Committees

Transport Committee

As Solapur Municipal Corporation has established a
transport undertaking, the Transport Committee
consists of 12 members with the Chairman of the
Standing Committee serving as an ex-officio member,
making a total of 13 members overseeing
public transportation services.

16 members are appointed from the Municipal Corporation members,
with one elected as Chairman.
As the executive body similar to the Ministry of Finance,
this committee holds significant authority
over financial transactions,
work approvals, and expenditures.

Construction Committee

  • Department of the Chief of
    Municipal Construction
  • Roads, buildings, water
    supply and waterworks
  • Open grounds and gardens, fire brigade
  • Land and property department matters
  • Inspection of works and representations

City Improvement Committee

All questions regarding general
improvements of the city including
Master Plan, Town Planning Scheme,
Industrial Estates, Housing Scheme,
and representations from the Commissioner.

Medical Assistance and
Health Committee

Municipal Corporation's outpatient clinics,
hospitals (including infectious diseases
hospitals), maternity wards, medical and
nursing assistance, health department,
road cleaning, garbage collection.

Markets and
Garden Department

All questions related to markets,
gardens, and their maintenance for
public use and commercial activities.

Legal Committee

Questions regarding administration,
interpretation of Municipal Corporation
Act provisions, Bye-laws, Regulations, Rules
and amendments thereto.

Labour and
Social Welfare Committee

Works towards welfare of Municipal
Corporation workers and helps local working
class with entertainment facilities and
similar amenities for general working class.

Women and
Child Welfare Committee

Works related to the Women
and Child Welfare Department, focusing
on empowerment and protection initiatives.

Internal Grievance Committee
(Vishakha Committee)

Provides protection of women from
sexual harassment at workplace, prevention
mechanisms, redressal of complaints,
compensation,investigation and appropriate
action. Main objective is ensuring
safe work environment.

Legal Framework & Functioning

The functioning of all the above-mentioned meetings/committees is carried out in accordance
with the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act and as per the instructions of the Government from time to time.
